Meagan's Logic

Justin started Kennecott this week, which means he now has to pack a lunch. So, I went to the store and got all kinds of yummy little healthy thinks to pack his lunch with. Knowing my kids, especially the bottomless pit Andrew, I brought them all to the kitchen to explain a few new rules and consequences. I have now designated one fridge drawer and one cupboard shelf exclusively to "Daddy's Lunch Stuff." Since this is a HUGE temptation, I had to set a consequence to the crime of eating anything in this area. So I explained to them that if they get into these forbidden food areas the consequence would be one day of nothing but bread and water. Don't worry, I've never starved my children. I don't think this would kill them. This seems to be a good deterrent, because it is now Friday and no one has ravaged the food yet.

So Meagan has obviously been contemplating the deeper meaning of this situation. Today she told me why people who do bad things have to eat bread and water. She says it is so, after doing something bad, we can eat the bread and water and think about Jesus and his body and blood. No kidding. First, I'm glad she is paying some attention in church. Second, this wasn't exactly what I had in mind, but maybe works out even better.

On another note. I remember when I was little and my parents put a lock on the kitchen food cupboard. I used to think this was odd. Now I understand the wisdom of it. Sorry mom, we probably tried to eat you out of house and home many a time. If it is hard for me to stop Andrew, think of her with Shane and four others. The kitchen was always the first stop after school. HUH ANDREA!! (I will now picture myself kicking you repeatedly, hehe)
